Surface Area of Right Prisms.

We have been working on calculating the surface areas of right prisms. There are a lot of steps and calculations involved in this process, and it is one of the more difficult concepts for many students in the grade 6 curriculum. It is very important that students show all of the steps towards a solution. Students have math homework booklets to take home, as well as duotangs and math notebooks. The students were assigned two questions to work on today. I would like them all to finish those two questions, and review the steps so that they have a firm understanding before Monday. They can draw their own rectangular and triangular prisms and show someone at home how to solve for the surface area. This would help to solidify their understanding. Here is a link for a few youtube videos to help clarify the steps. For many of you, I’m sure it’s been awhile since you had to calculate surface area. Surface Area of Right Prisms

Students are required to complete a poem that is not more than 32 lines(no minimum), an essay of no more than 350 workds, and a black and white or full colour poster.
